Well, after many months of being in a spica cast and then a pavlik harness we moved on to a cruiser brace which has not been all that bad. She's just so active now that she can undo the brace herself. It's quite a challenge keeping her in it. At least she keeps it on when she sleeps.
When we found out about her hip dysplasia, I started looking everywhere on the internet for information. We ran into many bumps in the road, especially when she was in the cast. She wouldn't fit in her car seat, couldn't wear certain clothes, and forget all about shoes--so we had to be really creative.
If you are interested in knowing more about hip dysplasia, this is a really good website to see lots of stories and pictures of babies (and toddlers) with this problem.
Here's a picture of my baby on her first birthday.
You must really be proud. It seems as though things are moving right along with your little darling. Raising children is hard enough, but to deal with this I'm sure was a new kind of experience. This is a great subject for a blog because those of us that are in the dark about this type of thing are now enlightened. Keep up the good care of your bundle of joy and give yourself a pat on the back.
